Background of Shing mun redoubt
Shing Mun Redoubt is one of the Grade II historic buildings in Hong Kong. It is located at the south of Shing Mun Reservoir.
It was built in 1938 used as the defensive line, called Gin Drinkers Linein, against the Japanese invasion during World War II in 1941. However, Shing Mun Redoubt fell after just 2 days during the Battle of Hong Kong in December 1941.
Interestingly, we can still find some defensive structures at Shing Mun Redoubt.

The tunnels are interconnected with ventilation shafts and observation points were named.
Pillbox
Pillbox is to conceal their location and provide covering fire to each other.
How to get there?
From Tsuen Wan, you can take green minibus No. 82 at Shiu Wo Street. It taks around 10-15 minutes. After arriving at the terminus, Pineapple Dam, you have to walk along the road to Shing Mun Reservoir by a few minutes. When you arrive the barbecue area, you will see the entrance of the stage 6 of Macelhose Trail. Walk along the trail and you will find some defensive structures there.
