TAI PO WATERFRONT PARK
Tai Po Waterfront Park was built in 1997. It is located along the shore of Tolo Harbour which provides a variety of facilities for the public, such as gardens, playgrounds and jogging trail. Though it is the largest park managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department but you may not know how beautiful the park is in this concrete jungle. It is an excellent place with nice scenery for you to relax and spend the time with your friends and family.

Why is it important?
Although it is only a recreational and leisure area, there are full of cultural discourse which try to show the importance of the handover of Hong Kong to China. Beside the Lookout Tower, another memorial sculpture was built in 2007 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong.
Moreover, during the Tuen Ng Festival, the Tai Po Dragon Boat Competition is held in the sea off the Waterfront Park. People enjoy a lot every year.
On one hand, we can see the government try to put some post-colonial elements to the park, but, on the other hand, many western cultures such as the western garden and Amphitheatre were kept.
